I'm Not Happy

You can see from the photo that Evy is thinking "I'm not happy." As my sister would say, "Then which one of the Seven Dwarfs are you?"

It's 100 degrees outside and Evy just got a thorough hose bath in the front yard. Molly is over at Peggy's getting a lesson in birth control (helping Brenna with her newborn son), so Evy doesn't get to run around while she and Jade are doing yard work. The little rat-dog keeps snapping at her, just because Evy wants to play.

However, wet dogs are cool dogs, in more ways than one. She's been feed and watered (again in more ways than one) and ready to explore the day.

Chips and Dip

Evy made a new friend today. Molly's friend, Jade, came over for a visit. She and Evy got along famously.

Evy was the perfect host and offered Jade a tasty snack of Tostito chips and dip. Shown here is the chip. The salsa was little bit more of a mess.

Teenagers are so difficult to train properly.

Caught Up

Evy is still trying to figure things out and her thither is one of them. I left her out for a few minutes only to find her all tangled up in the bushes out front.

At least she was in the shade. It is supposed to be above 100 degrees today. She's all cool and comfy in the house now.

I'm going to a night race at Texas Motor Speedway (no place for puppies). Molly is staying home with the dogs.

I took Evy to the Vet today for her second round of shots. She's legal now! She's got her Green Collar, tag and papers now. When we got home she decided to celebrate.

Memorial Day

Molly and I decided to take in a Fort Worth Cats baseball game today. Turned out is was two bucks for veterans and/or cops.

We would be gone far too long to allow the canines to have the run of the house. We also didn't want them tied up all that time outside in the oppressive heat.

The answer was to get an indoor dog pen from (where else?) Walmart.

Evy doesn't like being in it by herself and puts on her pitiful face. However, Buttons likes the pen and hops right in.

Evy changes her attitude when Buttons is in the cage too. I guess its less a jail and more an air conditioned happy nappy-house.

Evy is such a good watchdog. She always keeps one eye open, even when she takes a nap. Why, I'm afraid if someone ever breaks into the house, she'll lick them to death or, at least, seriously injure them wagging her tail.

Saturday, May 22, 2010

I had to come back to Texas unexpectedly. Evy and I jumped in the car and drove in.

Most of the time, so far, trips had been to the store or some other short, interesting ride. This was an 8 hour trip. At first it was fun. After a long while we finally stopped for a water and pee break. Then, OMG, we got back in the car and drove forever again!

At first Evy rode with her head in my lap or licking me in the face. Then she retired to the back seat and spread out for a nap. Napping seemed the thing to do on a long trip.

When we got home in Texas, everything smelled different. (I don't know how. Evy's the dog!)

There was Molly, who'd Evy had already met in Arkansas. They were excited to see each other. Then there was that "other" dog she'd met in Arkansas too, and she thought she owned the place.

Oh well, another day.
